REPERTOIRE

Polokkarit’s repertoire is based on Finnish tradition, and the choreographies draw influences from both modern and timeless phenomena, not forgetting humor. The ensemble’s works have dealth with themes such as the Finnish sauna tradition, the unique partnering contact of the hambo, the Finnish social dance tradition and the world of sisters and brothers. The group’s repertoire also includes traditional folk dance show pieces that consist of skillfully danced lively polkas, fast-paced Karelian quadrilles, and intense ceremonial minuets.
